June 3, 2014 by AP-Networks Leave a Comment Calgary, Alberta, June 3rd, 2014 — Following up on the successful completion of the Oil Sands Turnaround Cost Performance Benchmarking Study, a first of its kind study that identified the unique cost drivers of oil sands turnarounds, Asset Performance Canada, ULC (AP-Canada) is actively seeking sponsors for the company’s Western Canada Turnaround Performance Benchmarking Study. Following a similar approach to the Oil Sands study, the Western Canada study will look to isolate the controllable and uncontrollable cost drivers affecting Western Canada turnarounds, and identify best practices being utilized throughout the region. Attracting and retaining a skilled labour force, managing fixed labour rates, and optimizing organizational capability in the face of geographically isolated transportation links and energy costs are just some of the challenges faced by companies operating in Western Canada. Separating controllable costs from uncontrollable costs and identifying best practices will establish a baseline from which companies can understand their own performance and improve. Study sponsors will receive a general report detailing overall study findings, as well as individualized reports comparing company performance to turnaround performance across Western Canada. AP-Canada will also provide company-specific observations and recommendations to drive performance improvement. Confidentiality agreements will ensure the protection of sponsor data.
