In March, Asset Performance Networks (AP-Networks) will be attending StocExpo, the largest and longest-running international bulk liquid storage event. Thought leaders from across the world will gather alongside exhibitors and visitors to discuss the future of the bulk storage industry. Each attendee will receive a copy of Tank Storage Magazine, featuring an article by AP-Networks titled “Tackling the unique challenges presented by tank outages.” As a longtime solutions provider for asset-intensive industries across the globe, AP-Networks has extensive experience helping clients optimize turnaround performance and improve organizational capability. In 2016, AP-Networks conducted the first tank outage work process research, which identified that tank programs have annual activities and tank-specific activities not accounted for in a general turnaround work process. Moreover, this research suggested that tank-specific work processes are not yet widely used among Industry, leaving significant opportunities untapped. In response, AP-Networks designed the first Tank Outage Work Process, deployed via the company’s NaviTrack software tool. To follow up on this research, AP-Networks has launched the Tank Outage Benchmarking Study. To request a copy of the study prospectus, interested parties are encouraged to email tankbenchmarking@ap-networks.com. The Tank Outage Benchmarking Study will allow participants to better understand how the overall industry conducts tank outages, as well as the maturity level, compared to plant turnarounds, of the processes currently used. Additionally, the study will assess what challenges are faced, what practices are used, and how these practices correlate with performance outcomes. Most importantly, the study will determine Industry average and top quartile performance metrics so that each participant can use the study results to define a baseline for comparison and continuous improvement purposes.
