For more than a century, the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) has served as the leading technical society of professionals in the Canadian minerals, metals, materials and energy industries. The annual CIM Convention provides an opportunity for mining professionals to gather together and exchange new ideas. Asset Performance Canada (AP-Canada) will attend this year’s CIM Convention to share trends and best practices from the shutdown and turnaround industry. These insights will showcase proven strategies for mining plants looking to achieve safe, competitive, predictable shutdown outcomes.
On Monday, May 7th at 2:25pm, AP-Canada consultant Alan Cajueiro will present his paper, “Shutdown/Turnaround Industry Best Practices and Emerging Trends.” In order to achieve optimal shutdown outcomes, readiness must be quantified and measured early in planning, and the planning team must be disciplined in its adherence to a work process that is tailored to the requirements of the event. This paper will present key Industry best practices that have evolved over the past fifteen years and their contribution to increased shutdown predictability and competitiveness. Emerging trends that the leading players are following to stand out from their peers will also be covered.
