November 3, 2021 by Sr. Associate and Director Governance Bart de Weert is Senior Associate/Director Governance with Asset Performance Networks, based out of the office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Bart has over 30 years of experience in the oil, gas, petrochemicals and power industries, working in maintenance roles, turnarounds and projects. He has worked both onshore and offshore, in operational positions as well as consulting roles. His experience extends to upstream and downstream operations, with a particular focus on planning, scheduling and the development of management control systems. Prior to joining AP-Networks, Bart worked as a self-employed consultant for nearly a decade, where he was contracted by several major companies such as Shell, DSM, E-On, and offshore Exploration & Production for Total. This followed ten years working as a project and turnaround consultant for a major consulting firm, where he held a number of different roles, ranging from Lead Planner/Scheduler, to Manager Project Services and Controls, to Turnaround Manager. Understanding the importance of a well-developed integrated schedule for effective execution coordination and to support decision-making processes, Bart has always shown a special interest in schedule development and optimization. Leading the planning/scheduling team for numerous projects and turnarounds, Bart has developed the skills to support clients with schedule development, defining requirements for effective reporting and controls, and optimizing integrated schedules through in-depth analysis of schedule risks and gaps to Industry best-practices in scheduling. In the position of Director Governance, Bart will serve as primary custodian regarding AP-Networks Governance Framework and Methodology. Knowing that a solid governance framework is a key contributor to Projects and STO Excellence, he will help strategize and manage AP-Networks Governance knowledge, content and implementation programs. This could entail review of the clients’ governance approach to identify gaps and improvement opportunities, as well as collaborate, liaise and support clients and AP-Networks Colleagues alike, in the development and implementation of a Governance framework, including Work process and digital deployment tools.
