Ken McLean is a Subject Matter Expert with Asset Performance Canada, based out of the company’s office in Calgary, Alberta. As a specialist for Petro-Canada and Suncor, Ken was a key team member on multiple AP-Networks’ Risk Based Scope Reviews (RBSR). In his current role, Ken draws upon more than 3 decades of refining industry experience to execute RBSRs for leading Canadian refineries.

Prior to joining AP-Canada, Ken held numerous leadership roles at Petro-Canada and Gulf Canada, where he gained extensive experience in the operations and maintenance groups. Ken has been responsible for the operation of crude, vacuum, FCCU, hydrotreater, reformer, and alkylation units. He has also directed the operation of two different FCCU’s, and performed troubleshooting on two others. In addition, Ken led a team that implemented multivariable and LP control systems for many of these units. He also performed the role of rotating equipment supervisor and planning supervisor, and led a cross functional team of specialists to enhance plant reliability while minimizing maintenance costs.

Ken was part of a design team for a grassroots Delayed Coking Unit. His area of responsibility was ensuring the maintainability and operability of the end product.

Ken holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Waterloo, as well as a professional engineering license from Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
