Bart de Weert is a Senior Consultant with Asset Performance Networks, based out of the company’s office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Bart has over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas, petrochemical, and power industries. His career has spanned turnarounds, maintenance, and projects, both in operational and consulting roles. Bart’s expertise extends to both upstream and downstream operations, with a particular focus on planning, scheduling, and the development of management control systems. Throughout his career, he has overseen a diverse array of projects and turnarounds from initiation through post-event evaluation.
Bart’s experience has taught him the importance of a well-developed and fully integrated schedule in achieving effective execution coordination and supporting decision-making processes. For this reason, he takes a special interest in schedule development and optimization. Over the years, he has also developed a keen understanding of the need for schedules that reflect good constructability and has earned a reputation for getting out of the office and onto the plant to “walk-down” the work plans. Leading the planning and scheduling teams for numerous projects and turnarounds, Bart has developed the skills to support clients with schedule development, define requirements for effective reporting and controls, and optimize integrated schedules through in-depth analysis of risks and gaps with Industry best practices.
Prior to joining AP-Networks, Bart worked as a self-employed consultant for nearly a decade. He worked with petrochemical firms such as Shell and DSM, power companies such as E.ON and EPZ, and handled offshore exploration and production work for Total E&P. This followed ten years working as a project and turnaround consultant for a major consulting firm, where he held a number of roles ranging from Lead Planner/Scheduler, to Manager of Project Services and Controls, to Turnaround Manager.
Throughout his career, Bart has been involved in the development and implementation of computer-based work processes and work management tools. He has designed, restructured, and optimized work planning and scheduling processes, work management systems, and training materials and protocols for maintenance and operations crews. He has also coordinated the implementation of CRM/ERP systems such as SAP and Asset Suite. Bart developed a tool for project portfolio management, and an Integrated Operations Planning (IOP) system to coordinate the consolidated activities for operations, maintenance, and project departments.
Bart holds a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Delft University of Technology.
