3rd Annual Plant Maintenance in the Middle East Conference – Abu Dhabi, UAE - January 11-13, 2010
Bethesda, Maryland, January 2010 — Asset Performance Networks presented at the Plant Maintenance in the Middle East Conference that took place from January 11-13, 2010 in Abu Dhabi, UAE. John Alkemade presented a paper on "Effective Implementation of a Gated Work Process – The NaviTrack Story". This presentation outlined how a formalized, gated work process will positively influence the outcome of a turnaround. Further, the presentation explained how all turnaround best practices are assembled into one "Plan-to-Plan," customized for the complexity of individual turnarounds. Finally, this presentation focused on utilization of NaviTrack.

Bethesda, Maryland, June 2009 — The Turnaround Industry Network Conference (TINC) is the premier turnaround symposium to share best practices proven to deliver safe, event-free, and predictable turnaround outcomes. TINC is an invitation-only conference for owner-operators, and is the only forum exclusively for turnaround professionals. TINC is sponsored by Asset Performance Networks, and is organized by a steering committee comprised of 12 owner-operator companies. It is governed by a strict code of conduct to ensure compliance with antitrust laws.

This year, TINC – Americas was held on October 7th - 9th in Houston. It featured owner company executives (from Chevron, Shell and Hovensa) keynoting each day of the conference. It also featured a quantitative benchmarking analysis of turnaround practices for each company with representative data in the AP-Networks database. Additionally, TINC had the following: an expert panel; a NaviTrack Power Users' session; a NaviTrack user training; and many other turnaround specific presentations and breakouts.

AP-Networks Sponsors 2009 Shutdown Superconference, December 8-9, Alberta, Canada
Bethesda, Maryland, December 2009 — Asset Performance Networks once again sponsored this year's Shutdown Superconference on December 8th and 9th in Calgary, Alberta at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. This year’s conference featured the most internationally diverse roster of experts who shared their knowledge and solutions that can be applied to a site or company’s next shutdown. The Shutdown Superconference was a 2-day event that is the only Canadian event of its kind, providing a forum for delegates and speakers from a wide variety of industry sectors. John Crager, a Senior Consultant from Asset Performance Networks, and Ken Yurkiw, Manager of Turnaround Process Development at Suncor Energy, presented on the topic of “Implementing a Best-in-Class Outage Management Process for Oil Sands”. This case study provided:
- An overview of some of the challenges faced by the site
- Details regarding the efforts used to implement an updated turnaround work process based on benchmarking best-in-class performers across industry
- Managing various stakeholders from all key site functional disciplines
- Examining technical support specialists throughout the enterprise, including tools and job aids
- Exploring the initiatives that have worked to significantly improve planning, preparation, and execution of shutdowns
In addition, Asset Performance Networks provided information about our products and services for the turnaround sector, and gave hands-on demonstrations of the following software tools aimed at improving turnaround performance: Turnaround-Network.com©, NaviTrack™, and Pyxis©. Our tools and services have been implemented by a growing number of Canadian companies, including Alberta Envirofuels, Suncor, and Shell. |

Amsterdam, Netherlands - August 2009 — Asset Performance Networks presented at the Shutdowns, Turnarounds, and Outages Conference held on September 24th-25th in Vienna, Austria. John Alkemade, European Director, gave a presentation entitled "The Importance of Turnaround Planning and Preparation to Eliminate or Minimize Setbacks." Mr. Alkemade’s presentation included such topics as which key leading indicators have a quantifiable effect on turnaround outcomes, how to interpret the feasibility of turnaround objectives, and the value of a common turnaround work process.

Oil Sands Heavy Oil Technologies Conference and Exhibition - July 14-16, 2009
Bethesda, Maryland, August 2009 — Scott Moore and Larry Robey exhibited at the Oil Sands Heavy Oil Technologies Conference, that took place between July 14-16, 2009, in Alberta, Canada. This conference focused on technologies developed for the oil sands and heavy oil resources of Alberta. These technologies are vital to more than just tomorrow's oil supply because they represent solutions to problems encountered throughout the entire oil industry. This was a useful forum to not only exhibit our tools and software, but to develop a greater understanding for some of the new technologies that are shaping the way heavy oil is captured and refined for everyday consumption.
