George DeBakey
George
DeBakey is a co-founder and Managing Director of AP-Networks. He shares
responsibility for the company's overall strategic direction, and management of
its long-term growth and profitability. As co-founder, Mr. DeBakey has been
instrumental in the development of the company's values, ethics, and
customer-focused philosophy.
Mr. DeBakey has more than 25 years of professional experience generating
measurable improvements in asset and operational performance in the energy,
petrochemical, and construction industries. His leadership style and
professional experience characterize AP-Networks' commitment to delivering
long-term value and measurable results to its clients worldwide.
At AP-Networks, Mr. DeBakey has led an organization responsible for more than
350 turnaround and project assessments worldwide with clients such as Celanese,
Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Dow Chemical, ExxonMobil, Flint Hills Resources,
Shell, and Valero. In the early days of AP-Networks, Mr. Debakey was the father
of the Turnaround Readiness PyramidTM
- the worlds' most proven and used turnaround best practices tool. He has
earned a recognized standing in the petrochemical industry as an expert in
improving turnaround performance, and is a regular participant in an expert
panel for best practices at the National Petrochemical Refining Association
(NPRA) Conference. Mr. DeBakey is a thought leader in the industry and speaks
at numerous conferences and events all over the world.
George started his career with Bechtel Corporation working on the
engineering and construction of mega-projects. Later in his Bechtel career, he
played key roles in a start-up organization responsible for taking commercial
nuclear power plants from mechanical completion to steady state operations. His
nuclear acclamation gave him the opportunity to be one of select few
consultants who worked on improving the Systemic Assessment of Licensee
Performance ("SALP") ratings of three nuclear power plants. This
experience gave him the invaluable understanding of achieving breakthrough
results by improving, in concert, the performance of people, processes, and the
material condition of physical assets. George holds a Master degree in
Engineering.
