John M. G. Alkemade

John Alkemade is the Director for AP-Networks, Europe. He shares responsibility for the development and growth of the company's European, Middle East and Africa businesses and has a strong involvement in the development of managerial tools that are geared towards project and turnaround performances improvement.

Mr. Alkemade has more than 15 years of experience in managing, and evaluating major projects for the energy, oil, gas, and chemical industries. Throughout his career, Mr. Alkemade has conducted more than 100 project evaluations. He has gained unique expertise in understanding and managing risks and issues associated with the development of large capital-intensive projects in developing countries and remote regions. He has also been involved in a number of capital project performance improvement programs, through the implementation of stage-gated processes.

At AP-Networks, Mr. Alkemade led major project and turnaround improvement programs worldwide for upstream and downstream companies e.g., Shell, BP, Statoil, TengizChevroil. He has been involved in the design and development of the company's new web based risk analysis and management tool, PYXIS^TM.

Prior to joining AP-Networks in 2006, Mr. Alkemade worked as an independent consultant in The Netherlands - Alkemade Consultancy - and was involved in various improvement programs through organizational alignment workshops. He started his career with ABB Lummus Global, working on international project assignments ranging from conceptual design and engineering to field implementation. He then joined ABB's business development team to grow the business of the European Ethylene Business group in Central Asia and the Middle East. Prior to setting up his own Consultancy, Mr. Alkemade was a senior consultant with a premiere capital projects' benchmarking firm in The Netherlands. In addition to benchmarking project performance and Front-End-Loading for major oil and chemical companies, and gave numerous presentations on improvement programs to various marquee clients. Mr. Alkemade has been a speaker at various Oil and Gas conferences dealing with improving project performance.

Mr. Alkemade holds a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master's degree in Chemistry from the University of Amsterdam in The Netherlands.
