Senior Consultant
David Price
David is based in our Amsterdam, Netherlands office and his
30 years plus experience in the energy sector worldwide has covered most
upstream and downstream situations. In particular, his career is characterised
by working in and with some of the more remote and extreme environments
including the deserts of the Middle East, deepwater offshore North Sea and The
Philippines, and arctic conditions offshore Northern
Caspian Sea.
David previously worked for Shell International for whom he was, inter alia, a subsea and deepwater
specialist, including the project management of the Underwater Manifold Centre
in the North Sea, the Malampaya deepwater development offshore Philippines, and the Stena
Tay deepwater drilling rig.
As Chairman of the UK E&P Forum WG17, David was a key figure in the
publication of the API 17 series of subsea production standards. Later, as
Corporate Discipline Head for Project Management, David sponsored the
development and implementation of project management systems and training, and
a Graduate Monitored Professional Development Scheme.
Following Shell, David worked as a Senior Project Manager for Jacobs
Engineering in Leiden, Netherlands, and Houston, USA. Projects
included offshore gas platforms for Shell in the Netherlands, and an LNG
degassification facility for El Paso in Georgia, USA. Later, with
responsibility for all of key client BP's European downstream assets,
David's achievements included the implementation of project management
and control best practices into BP's small capital and turnaround projects.
Examples included metrics for performance measurement and improvement,
phase/gate reviews, cost and progress tracking systems, and safety management
processes.
Most recently, David worked for Agip in Atyrau, Kazakhstan, as Head of
Technical and Project Services. This diverse role covered the meteorology and
oceanography of an arctic offshore environment, as well as the implementation
of project control best practices: quality assurance, documentation,
contracting and cost/planning. Key achievements were the development and
introduction of project reviews, and project management training, particularly
covering contracts and contracting.
Throughout his career, David has championed the application of sound
project management systems, including gate reviews, as essential support to
project engineers and managers.
